My Warning Label

If you’re looking at this page and I hurt your feelings somehow – you have come to the right place.

This is my universal apology. I will not have another one. I will not apologize every time I say something that does not align with your beliefs, whatever they happen to be. People are not meant to agree on everything, but we can work together to find common ground.

I refuse to censor myself.

That does not mean that I am not sensitive to your views, it just means that this is my place to share my own thoughts and welcome open dialogue.

I grew up in a Christian, conservative home. I have the utmost respect for that lifestyle – and all religions and belief systems for that matter – I just simply do not fit in that system of beliefs myself. I am an open Atheist and a free-thinker, and one of the many values that I hold true can be signified with a Walt Whitman quote I had up for a long time. It does a beautiful job of explaining the connection I feel between myself and other people.

I CELEBRATE myself, and sing myself,

And what I assume you shall assume,

For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.

Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass

Read it for what you will, but I see it as we are all one in the same – while our experiences may be different and our opinions are as well – we all experience life as human beings and with those different experiences comes plenty of opinions and emotion.

I cannot promise that I won’t say something at some point that is going to offend someone out there. That will make you wonder if I am talking about you specifically.

I am not.

Unless I casually name drop you, everything I say is 100% generalized to the population. Just like if you go
to church and are sitting there on Sunday morning – wondering how the person giving the sermon knew about the rest of your weekend. What I am saying just happens to be a coincidence. Nothing more, nothing less.

I have the tendency to speak without thinking about the feelings of others – and I would rather do that here on my blog – than in person where I might knowingly hurt someone’s feelings.

When face to face, I have learned to censor myself. However, when posting for the public or the world to see, it seems preposterous to avoid saying something simply because it may offend someone. While being offensive is never my intent, I realize that it can and will happen.

No one experiences life in the same way, thus no one on earth has the same set of opinions.

I respect your right to have yours, please respect my right to have mine.

If I have hurt you, please know that was not my intent.

You have been warned.

Thanks for stopping by the Middle Brick Road, I hope you enjoyed this post. My name is Kacey and I am really big on health and all things natural – freedom – politics and bringing change by abandoning the boxes we too often put ourselves in.

If you’re new here, please take a look around, follow along and like me on Facebook, so you never miss a beat. =)) Until next time . . .
