Yesterday, Middle Brick Road blacked out to protest SOPA and Protect IP. Nothing was posted because well, you couldn’t read it anyway. Even if you didn’t get to stop by yesterday (and I still had several page views) you can still speak out against SOPA.
If you don’t understand what this SOPA thing will do let me just give you a real life example.
A couple of years ago Bella decided she wanted to perform a dance routine for a talent show. Her Aunt Emily hooked her up and choreographed a routine to Black Eyed Peas song “I Gotta Feeling” . . . She practiced for months and did an AMAZING job at the talent show. Now anytime I hear that song, I can see that beautiful little girl dancing and twirling across the stage. Of course like any good parent, we got this all on video tape. Under the proposed SOPA/Protect IP laws that little video could send me to jail for 5 years, just for the song playing in the background!
You’re thinking “no way” . . . well, “yes way” . . . it’s incredulous I know, however the more people who do something about this atrocity, the better.
How do you do something? There are a myriad of ways to let your voice be heard and to stop this from happening!
Sign the petition with the ACLU
Check out Fight For the Future watch the video so you know what’s going on and hell why not, take 30 seconds and sign a letter through them too!
And while you’re at it go ahead and sign the Google petition.
That is three petitions, think your voice doesn’t matter? It does, yesterday Congress was flooded with people protesting this bill. This bill rips away our freedoms and attacks specifically the little guy. Aren’t the big guys big enough already? I think so. Do your part, sign the petitions, spread the word and do NOT accept some revised bill that is still written shadily and vague. They will try to get us that way, but do NOT let them. Use your voice, stand up against the repression, the censorship and the tyranny.
If it isn’t clear yet, I believe in freedom. I am willing to fight to protect it and make my voice heard, are you?
Don’t buy products from companies who support SOPA ! Even better, contact them and let them know why you aren’t going to buy their products. Download the Android App that lets you scan items to check and see if they are supporters of SOPA/PIPA
Now, Google did the right thing, blacked out their logo and spoke out against these bills, Facebook and Twitter however did not have so much as a banner up speaking out against it. Now you could argue and say that Mark Zuckerberg opposes this legislation. If that is true, why did he not post until noon yesterday about it?
Thanks for stopping by the Middle Brick Road, I hope you enjoyed this post. My name is Kacey and I am really big on health and all things natural – freedom – politics and bringing change by abandoning the boxes we too often put ourselves in.
If you’re new here please take a look around – follow along and like me on Facebook, so you never miss a beat. =)) Until next time . . .
